Statement of intent:
For my final project I have chosen framing this project will be focused on zooming in to an image through a frame. I will try to be very creative in my project by not just using the normal frames but being unique and also trying to use other types of frames such as reflection from mirrors and glasses lenses. I want to explore more types of photography which is why I chose framing for my project because it is unique compared to other types of photography and not a lot of photographer do this. My last two projects were texture and portrait which are common types of photography so to improve I thought that I will have to do an uncommon type of photography to be more independent and improve my skills as a photographer. I will try to complete my work to a very high standard and to the best of my ability. I will explore the different camera techniques to see which one is the best for my project. By learning these skills i will be able to improve my photography skills and improve my website to its best.

Research on Ansel Adams:
Context:
Ansel Adams was a photographer and and environmentalist who lived between (February 20th 1902 - April 22nd 1984) he was born in san Francisco California he was inspired and strongly influenced by Alfred Stieglitz whom he met in 1933 and who mounted a one man exhibition for him in 1936 at Stieglitz's an American place gallery in New York city. His purpose in his work was to promote conservation on wilderness areas. His iconic black and white images helped to establish photography among the fine arts. Most of his photography stands out because it is black and white he did this so he could divert attention to his work. His grandfather founded a prosperous lumber business, which Adams’ father eventually inherited. Later in life, Adams would condemn that industry for depleting the redwood forests. As a young child in 1906 there was and earthquake were he lived leading him to get a broken nose. Adams was a misbehaved child and he was dismissed from several schools for bad behavior which lead him to be privately tutored from the age of 12.

Composition:
In this photograph by Ansel Adams the image is taken to make the background the main focus of the image and to make the scenery stand out, with the frame making the whole shot look like a work of art. This image was probably shot with a tripod to get a perfectly still shot and as there is a deep depth of field, he may have used a telescopic lens. Adam’s has used a ‘framing’ compositional technique which in my opinion is highly effective. There are white Japanese sliding doors that frame the garden beyond and the white of the doors are echoed in the white highlights on the trees and the small bit of land jutting out on the left hand side. The contrast of white and black gives the photograph quite a dramatic and theatrical effect with the use of the natural light highlighting the floor, doors and landscape. As the photographer has achieved quite a contrasting image, he may have manipulated it in the darkroom to achieve this tonal quality. The use of leading lines is very important in this image, we can see the horizontal lines of the floor working with the vertical and horizontal lines in the screens, framing the shot and this is something that I might try and do in my own photographs.
Connections:
My chosen photographer Ansel Adams uses the same technique I am using framing so far I have only used framing on people but I have not yet tried landscape framing and his work has inspired me to do that. Also by using the black and white effect in my work I can manipulate the mood of my work into a more dark and depressing theme which I can then add words around my image to give it a deeper meaning. The picture used shows Adams using a door as a frame that is one type of framing I have not tried yet which I will now try and a lot of his techniques in his work have now inspired me to use them in my work as well. All the camera techniques he also uses i will try to use them in my work to try get a similar outcome.
Comment:
One thing I love about Ansel Adams work is that he uses many different camera techniques and also his images look like they haven't been edited much the picture is simple and still very eye catching because he is very skilled at using the camera and getting great pictures. Most of his work is repetitive because he doesn't really experiment with more themes its mostly just black and white. Overall I really love Ansel Adams work and I will use many of the techniques he has displayed into my own work. I will try to add my own techniques' along side his techniques to try create the best outcomes I can and will focus on trying split light and dark themes in one image.
Mujtaba Amjad Frames: |
Farhan and miss frames: |
Best and worst:
The image on the left is the best picture because I have captured his face perfectly through the frame with the lighting split on his face the image is also perfectly focused and his face in the center point of the image. the image on the right is the worst image because i have tried to capture the shot from a different angle and now his whole face has not been included and it is a bit blurred out.
Mrs Kidd frames:
Best and worst:
The image on the left is my best picture because it is focused and perfectly zoomed out. I have used great lighting effects and used two different colours of lighting to get two different moods of the image. There is many different types of outcomes I can make in photoshop using this image. The image on the right is my worst image because the black background is not covering the entire background. The camera is face too high up not making the model of the image stand out and the hand is covering the face so it is harder to create outcomes using this picture.

Final images:
I have chosen a light and dark theme for this image I really like both images I think the image on the right is the better image because everything around the frame is black dark and which helps the main part inside the frame stand out.
mirror shoot:
Best and worst:
The best picture is the one on the left because it is is perfectly focused and the reflection of the mirror is clear and it will be very easy for me to edit over the reflection. I also used the mirror of the central focus point. The image on the right is the worst picture because it is too zoomed out and the mirror is not the main focus point of the image because it is too small.
Best and worst:
The image on the left is the best because the background is blurred and the reflection in the mirror reflects great scenery and also the mirror is the center point of the image which makes its stand out compared to the rest of the image. The image on the right is the the whole mirror isn't in the focus because a bit of it is cut out and the image is supposed to be center point of the image.
Best and worst:
The image on the left is my best image because I have used rule of thirds and the mirror is in the center of the image and clear reflection of a tree can be seen through the mirror the person holding the mirror is also blurred out making the mirror stand out even more. The image on the right is the worst image because everything in the back in focused along side the mirror and the mirror isn't really standing out compared to the rest of the image.
Best and worst:
The image on the left is my best picture because it has a nice solid background which makes the reflection in the mirror stand out the mirror is also head level showing his whole body but replacing his face for the frame. The image is also very focused and not blurred at all. The image on the right is my worst picture because it is a close up picture to make the frame stand out but the frame is very dirty which doesn't give it the clear reflection

Evaluation:
I took idea of framing through objects and implemented this in my work I started by framing through my glasses frame and focusing on writing through the frames. I then tried to make my work more personal to me by focusing at Urdu writing which is my language through magnification. I really enjoyed this type of photography because it helped me to develop my photography skills further and make my work more personal to me.
